Inspired by TheHondaBro's guilty pleasure post.
What kind of car is your guilty pleasure? Something that is either completely out of personality for you, or just random. What is it?
Massive, V8, RWD American ex Police cars are my guilty pleasure. I'm not into the civilian versions of these cars at all, but there's just something about the Police package.

70's land yachts

Wear the badge with honor 70s land yachts are wonderfully vulgar. Exteriors great, interiors horrible

I would LOVE to find a nice 1994-96 LT1 powered 9C1.
I'm constantly looking at classifieds trying to find the grampa version of that Caprice.

That ride tho... nothing like doing a road trip in one

Wonderfully comfortable if not a tad hideous inside.

Big diesel trucks. Especially built ones.

All the B-bodies of that era were basically the pinnacle of floaty American land yachts. It's too bad GM saddled them with that awful version of the LT1.
They're kind of my thing, too. I drive cool, sporty, cars that my young coworker's drool over, but I have a really bad soft spot for cars that just float over everything and isolate you from the world outside. Big American and German cars.

Me too :)
It just so happens that I'm going to test this on Tuesday;

Little Japanese sports coupes such as the Prelude, Integra, Celica, and 240sx.
I almost wished I'd have bought one over the M3. Almost did but a Prelude actually, Si even.

I don't feel guilty for liking any car.

Tastefully modified cars.

Honestly if I could find a clean Fleetwood at a decent price 12/10 would DD.

To be quite honest I've always had a soft spot for the Crosstour. This thing rides sooooo smooth. It gets a lot of hate but in 10 years time Jalops will crave it for it's uniqueness.

Black/Black Lincoln Town Car.
Because I believe I am a reincarnated 64-year-old bank president. Which would also explain my love of scotch and cigars.

I want a Chevette (or better, a Pontiac Acadian) or an AMC Spirit. But then, my daily driver is a Lada Niva, so... is that really out of form?

"It's too bad GM saddled them that awful version of the LT1". What's wrong with it? I drove a high mileage and beat-to-shit but still in service 9C1 10-12 yrs. ago and that thing was genuinely quick.
![]() 03/22/2015 at 22:19 |

There's tons of low mileage ones out there, the decent price is the hard part

You've got issues :)

It is sad the entire Lincoln lineup can be put into the "guilty pleasure" category. I still have hope.

Wouldn't be the first time I heard that.

10/10 would on an Element. Another car vastly under-appreciated. I wish it was available in manual and AWD though because I definitely would have sprung for one.

What made you stick with the M3?

MKII Jetta GLI's,

Quite honestly, my answer is my own car. The STi, and it's statement the wing and scoops and sounds make (along with it's typical second buyer culture), makes me feel somewhat guilty and ashamed. But this is usually only the case when I look into the rear view mirror and see that huge wing back there, or when I venture onto Oppo and Jalopnik only to see ANOTHER video of some STi/WRX owning bro brake-checking innocent motorists and putting people's lives in danger by weaving through traffic, street racing, and making us look at their awful dress. This stigma is so far from my own identity that I strongly dislike the association, despite loving the car. Same goes for Evo's but I don't own one.

Because an a running E36 M3 Sedan with less than 170,000 miles in decent visual condition for $3,300 is hard to pass up.
![]() 03/22/2015 at 23:06 |

This is very true. I hope that M3 does you right and doesn't become a money pit. I've always loved the last generation Prelude. The lines on that thing are timeless. It definitely has the shape a good RWD vehicle. If only Honda would have seen it that way. Oh the missed opportunities.

Saw a murdered out Aztek yesterday. Was totally digging it.

That's not what I was getting at. That generation of LT1 was a red-headed stepchild due to a collection of terrible decisions. There's a good reason that engine was only used for 3 years.

I love the CVPI below and the '93-'96 Caprice above, but the '87-'90 Caprice in particular is a beauty.

I know these feels (M3 owner).
But if someone decides to make a personal judgement about me based purely on what car I choose to drive, that's on them.

As someone who dreamed of an e46, good call. And that's true.
